Valley of Giants - Sianok Gorge

  This valley is one of the loveliest places in West Sumatra, even in Indonesia. When looked at directly from a distance, you will feel as if in other parts of the world. Its beauty is so spectacular. Let us prove the beauty of the valley is a giant named Sianok canyon.
 Sianok canyon itself is a valley with a height of up to 100-200 meters with a length of 15 kilometers. Sianok canyon has two almost vertical cliff and facing each other. Underneath you can see the vast rice fields and rivers.



In addition to its enormous size, the beautiful panorama around it was the main attraction of this attraction. No wonder the canyon Sianok become one of the icons of tourism in West Sumatra. The beauty Sianok canyon can be seen from Panorama Park in New York City or you can also visit the canyon, which is a residential area and paddy fields.




 
  You can relax in the gazebo as well as watch monkeys playing around the park. In addition, there are 20 meters tall tower near a souvenir shop where you can see more clearly the beauty of the canyon Sianok.



  Sianok canyon is a steep valley (ravine) which is located in the border town of Bukittinggi, in district IV Koto, Agam regency, West Sumatra. The valley is elongated and meandering as the southern boundary of the city to the village of Koto Gadang canyon Sianok Anam Tribe, and ending at Palupuh district. Sianok canyon has a very beautiful scenery and also became one of the mainstay attractions of the province.


 Sianok canyon deep ravine is about 100 m, stretches 15 kilometers with a width of about 200 m, and is part of the fault that separates the island of Sumatra in half lengthwise (Semangko error). These errors form a steep wall, even perpendicular and form a green valley-the result of the movement of the earth's crust under (sinklinal)-which flows Sianok rod (rod means river, in the Minangkabau language) that the water is clear. In the Dutch colonial era, this gap is referred to as karbouwengat or buffalo sanget, because the number of free-living wild buffalo at the bottom of this canyon.

 Sianok rod can now be forded by using canoes and kayaks are disaranai by a water sports organization "Quraish". It is taken from village to village elliptical Sitingkai Lambah Palupuh for approximately 3.5 hours. On the edge still found many rare plants such as Rafflesia and medicinal plants. Fauna found eg long-tailed monkeys, gibbons, hoop, deer, wild boar, leopard, and tapirs.
